The focus of our group is to develop circuit and antenna systems for millimeter-wave (MMW) wireless communications and sensing with dramatically improved performance over the state of the art, or which exhibit completely new functionality to enable new concepts.

We do this by taking advantage of inherent characteristics in advanced materials and devices which fundamentally benefit the circuit/antenna system. Research includes MMW artificial materials and metamaterials for highly efficient and linear beam-scanning GRIN lens antennas for satcom, MMW 5G and beyond; phase-change materials for fully programmable antennas and distributed circuits; and nonlinear microwave and microwave/magnetic transceivers and sensors for wideband, low-power sensing and communications.
